SOLO ART EXHIBITION - ‘REFORMED SYMMETRY’
OPENING NOVEMBER 16 TO DECEMBER 7, 2024 - STEPHANIE’S GALLERY
The Musician Series are a collection of paintings inspired by KOKO’s love for classical music. He trained in classical piano for over 12 years and began painting many of the pieces that he once played. This series of paintings is based on his obsession of the cello.
Figures are an ongoing series of original paintings exploring composition, scale and form. The Figures are created in a collective and grouping of components; exploring movement and space. KOKO’s Figures are an identifiable element in all his work; the genesis for all his collections.
Floral silhouettes are a series of paintings capturing the essence of a still life; a paused moment. The bold outlines and contrast of dark and light create the vibrancy and delicacy of the flowers.
Sculpture, Objects and Modeling are part of KOKO’s design process. During his years in Architecture KOKO used many model building techniques that developed over the years to include physical and digital fabrication. These artifacts are often created alongside his paintings; contributing to his creative process.
Constructs are a series of paintings from a collection entitled “Painting Architecture” where a future imagined city is created using fragments of building elements. KOKO is native to Los Angeles and this collection is an ongoing exploration of his city and the evolution of it’s parts over time.
The combination of form, gesture, music and movement are the underlying elements of the series of paintings; Ballet. Fluid movements and poised gestures are captured with brushwork and painting techniques creating a unique performance between the artist and the works of ballet.
The No Gravity Series is a collection of paintings that explore the absence of the element, gravity, and the affects of this absence on KOKO’s Figures. Foreground and Background become one and the Figures are often distorted in methodically random composition.
